Domain Validation  Print this Article

A Domain Validated (DV) certificate is one in which the validated identifying information contained in the certificate is limited to the domain in which the website is located. This is because DV certificates are usually verified through an automated process where the person purchasing the certificate is the only human element. Therefore DV certificates can be issued quickly and are typically inexpensive. If the DV certificate is installed and validates correctly the browser will display a padlock icon.
